Close-up of loophole. 'B' shows the turning knob to open the loophole.
We would appreciate any information as to the function of handle 'A'.
In the mentioned book by John Giles this 'handle' is in fact a hook.

Bottle found on French part of the battlefield.
It dates from the Great War period because the glass is tainted
with impurities which they couldn't remove in this period.
France and Flanders, 1997.

 

 

British bottle, 7 inch tall.
It has the Royal Coat of Arms on the front
and the text 'BY ROYAL WARRANT'.
On the back is written in tilted letters 'IDRIS'.
 Idris was a famous lemonade brand
during the War.

This remained an unknown object for us.
Jos Lagae pointed out it is a small German wheel
for a small car used to transport earth from underground works.
The Association Souvenir Bataille de Fromelles
found such a car when exploring German underground works.
